Meet our judge: Mr Dale Meyer (USA) – Wynsilot OES

I live in Dorchester, a small village in the center of Wisconsin in the United States of America and have most of my life. I purchased my first Old English in 1978. Acquiring my foundation bitch from Warwyck kennels in 1980, I finished her championship in 1981. My first home bred Wynsilot champion and singleton puppy was born in 1982. My wife Dora and I met at the New Jersey National Specialty in 1984, married in 1986 and now have three children and two grandchildren. To date we have bred 94 Wynsilot OES champions, mostly owner handled, many of which are National and Regional Specialty winners. Over 15 are Register of Merit eligible with the Old English Sheepdog Club of America, (OESCA). In 2024 Wynsilot was OESCA Breeder of the year, with Top producing Sire and Dam. We have been top producer in other years as well. Many of our dogs have been Top 20 eligible and 2 of them Mother and daughter have won the Top 20 competition. |

Notably, at the 2020/2021 and 2022, GCHS Wynsilot Ain'T Misbehavin (Sapphire) won the OESCA National specialty and completed a hat trick by taking the two regional specialties in conjunction with the National as well in both those years. Sapphire, was the #1 OES Breed and All Breed in 2021 and #1 Breed in 2022. In 2024 Sapphire's son was the third generation of our OES to go Best in Show. |

We are proud of the successes of our dogs in Australia, and Canada as well and especially proud of the mark made by Ch Wynsilot's Wilson for Mat N' Nik in Europe.
Receiving my AKC judges license for OES in 1995, I have since judged many regional specialties, the U.S. Top Twenty competition in 2003 and 2019. In 2016, I judged the OES club of New South Wales Specialty in Australia and in 2016 I judged the OESCA National. I am an approved AKC judge for all Herding, Working and Sporting breeds, Junior Showmanship and now have been approved to judge several Hound and Terrier breeds as well.
I served as Central Region Director of the OESCA, Co-Chair for the 2017 National Specialty, and final OESCA chair for the OES Illustrated Standard Guide. I was President of the Old English Sheepdog Club of America from 2019-2023 I have held the offices of President, Vice-President and board of director for two all breed clubs. I have been the Show Chair for my local all breed club for 11 years. I also have been a member of my local Lions Club and have held almost every office in that club including President many times. I have owned and operated Meyer Lumber Supply since 1984 and cherish the time I spend with my family.
About the Wynsalot affix; It’s completely made up. I was winning a fair amount and I decided to make up a kennel name that looked English and sounded like Wins a lot. I was a little apprehensive about doing it, in fear that it would sound too boastful, but it stuck and the rest is history.
I am honored to be chosen to judge the Netherlands OES Club show and am grateful for the opportunity to evaluate such beautiful Old English Sheepdogs.
